A Dudley borough apprentice has received a top apprenticeship for IT and telecoms professionals.
Darren Simms, aged 18, who attended Earls High School is a network administrator for RM Education and has completed Level 3 advanced apprenticeship for IT and telecoms professionals through training provider, Zenos Pearson Group.
As part of national apprenticeship week (6 to 10 February) Darren is proud to be part of the campaign. He began his apprenticeship after leaving school and has always been set on working in the IT industry and is now supporting the council’s schools.
Darren said:
“I enjoy going out on site and fixing customers problems plus logging calls and answering the phone, giving remote support.
“I would recommend an apprenticeship - go for it. As they offer a good chance to learn new things while being paid and also opportunities for future employment”.
Councillor Liz Walker, cabinet member for children’s services, said:
“Apprenticeships are a great way for young people to start their careers and have the advantage of real on the job training with their employers as well as support from training providers.”
RM Education is a global company which supports teachers and learners. They provide products from classroom resources, through school technologies, to systems for marking exams and delivering school performance data.
There are 200 different types of apprenticeships available nationally covering more than 1,200 different job roles in a range of industry sectors. Businesses looking to employ 16 to 18 year old apprentices can get full funding from the government.
