Black history month author talks

Black history month author talks are to take place at Dudley library as part of an evening that will entertain and inspire.

As part of this year’s black history month celebrations, which runs throughout October, Dudley library will be holding an event to mark the launch of “Celebrate Wha’?”.  The book is available to borrow from the library and is an anthology that explores what it means to be black and British and from the West Midlands.  The event will be held in the library’s reading room and refreshments will be available from 6.30pm on October 25.

Readers at the event will include Sue Brown, Chester Morrison, Marcia Calame and Birmingham’s former Poet Laureate, Roy Mcfarlane.

Cllr Adrian Turner, cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said:

“This event is a great opportunity for local people to get involved with this year’s Black history month.  Those attending will hear an entertaining anthology of poems about identity and race.”
