WOLVERHAMPTON POLICE SHUT DOWN TWO CANNABIS FACTORIES IN THE SAME BUILDING

POLICE have shut down two small-scale cannabis factories following raids on two properties in the same building in Wolverhampton.

Officers conducted the first of two raids on a block of flats on Birmingham New Road on Monday 10 May, where they recovered 5 large cannabis plants and arrested a 35-year-old-man on suspicion of the cultivation of cannabis. The man has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Police raided the second flat yesterday (21 May), where they recovered another 12 cannabis plants. A 31-year-old man handed himself into police today and has been arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He has since been bailed.

Sergeant Costas Cosmas, from the Spring Vale neighbourhood police team, said: “The supply and use of drugs ruins people’s lives. It also breeds crime and anti-social behaviour in our communities.

“We will continue to work with local neighbourhoods to actively target drug dealers and users in the area.”

Anyone with information about drugs should contact West Midlands police on 0345 113 5000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
