Dudley companies are being urged to compete for billions of pounds worth of business still up for grabs ahead of the London Olympic Games.

Around £5 billion worth of contracts are still available for businesses to win and Dudley Council is encouraging local firms to compete.

Dudley firms such as Thomas Dudley & Co, Hickman & Love and Mapei UK Ltd have already won London 2012 contracts and more local firms are being urged to get their slice of the Olympic investment.

The Olympic Park in London is currently the largest building site in Europe and contracts of all sizes are still available.

Councillor Les Jones, cabinet member for regeneration, said:
“Scores of businesses from across the Midlands are benefitting from the Olympics and we want to ensure any Dudley business with a chance of winning a contract is fully aware of the opportunities out there.

“Smaller contracts from around £5,000 are available as well as multi-million pound contracts and we want to ensure borough companies get their fair slice of these opportunities.”

Businesses can pick up other support and advice as well as links to the CompeteFor site by visiting the Dudley means business pages of the council’s website at www.dudley.gov.uk

Meanwhile Black Country businesses are invited to attend a workshop event at Walsall Football Club on June 10 for more information on the Olympic opportunities through the CompeteFor website. To book a place businesses should call 0845 872 4256.
