Local MP on leek out for vegetables

James Morris, MP for Halesowen and Rowley Regis, attended the Rowley Regis and Blackheath Horticultural and Chrysanthemum Society Annual Show on Saturday evening.  The yearly event was held at the Moose Lodge in Rowley Regis and was well attended by local gardeners.

James opened the show, before presenting the award winners with their prizes.  An auction then followed, in which James, buying a number of vegetables, including some tasty looking leeks.  Other items on sale included flowers and cakes.

Gary Bowen, auctioneer for the Horticultural Society said: “The evening went very well, and was well supported by the local community.  Really pleased James came along, stayed until the end and even joined in with the bidding”.

James Morris commented: “It was a pleasure to attend the annual garden show to present prizes to green fingered locals.  Some of the vegetables were impressively sized and I am looking forward to having leek soup for the next few weeks!”
