Witness appeal after woman attacked on drive of her Wolverhampton home

DETECTIVES are appealing for witnesses after a woman was attacked and had her car stolen in Wolverhampton last night (Thursday 2 February).

The incident happened at around 6:40pm on Copthorne Road in Pennfields.

Three men approached the 35-year-old victim as she was getting in to her green Volkswagen Scirocco.

They tried to push her into the back of the vehicle however she got away following a struggle. The three men then drove away in the stolen vehicle which has not yet been traced. The victim's handbag and mobile phone were also inside.

Man dies in fatal collision in West Browmich

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in West Bromwich in the early hours of this morning (Thursday 2 February).

Emergency services were called to Holloway Bank, Hill Top shortly after 12am.

A blue Ford Mondeo had left the road and turned onto its side.

The 71-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He is not being named at this stage.

The road was closed following the collision and later reopened at around 5:45am.

It appears the vehicle had been driving along Hill Top, West Bromwich towards Wednesbury.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw the car before the incident is asked to call police in the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
 

Man Charged With Double Murder Found Dead in Prison

West Midlands Police were informed by the Ministry of Justice of the death of Rimvydas Liorancas on Saturday 28 January at Woodhill Prison in Thames Valley.

Liorancas had been charged with the murders of Avtar and Carole Kolar at their homes in Handsworth Wood, earlier this month.

The police investigation into the deaths of Avtar and Carole will continue and the completed findings will now be presented to the Coroner at the Inquest.

The family of Carole and Avtar were informed at the earliest possible stage of the news and we are continuing to support them.

Four men charged following homophobic assault - Walsall

THREE men have been charged following an incident at a Walsall bar in November 2011 during which a 20-year-old man was assaulted.

The men aged 27, 18 and 24 were charged with common assault on yesterday (1 February) bailed to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court on Monday 13 February.

A fourth man, aged 17, has also been charged with public order offences.

Police are still interested in speaking to a fifth man in connection with the incident. He is described as a white male, with short brown hair, of slim build and was wearing a distinctive union jack long sleeved jumper.

Man charged with murder of Jagjit Singh Villkhu.

A 28 year-old man has been charged with the murder of Jagjit Singh Villkhu.

He is due to appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court tomorrow (Saturday 28 Jan) at 09:30 am.

Officers attended the location - an area of park land between Villiers Street and St Anne's Road - after receiving an emergency call shortly before 12:30am on 24 January.

A 26 year-old man who was arrested in connection with the murder remains on bail.
