Economic downturn delays Wolverhampton £70m Hotel |

The creation of a £70 million hotel and office block complex in Wolverhampton has been delayed until next year, developers said today.
Citygate Plaza, in Fordhouses, had been due to open in 2009 with the creation of 2,000 jobs. |

Saltwells House sold or not? |

Dudley Council has sold Saltwells House to a joint venture company prompting the regeneration of the popular landmark site.
The house is now owned by a joint venture partnership called PSP Dudley.
Although led and funded by the private sector the council has a 50 percent share in the joint venture which aims to facilitate property and regeneration projects. BVS facilitating Ltd have the 50 per cent private share in the partnership. |

POLICE in Wolverhampton are urging residents to be vigilant after a 96-year-old woman became the victim of a distraction burglary.
The incident took place in the Wood Cross area of Wolverhampton at around 4.30pm on Tuesday 30 March, where a man claiming to be from the ‘Water Board’ tricked his way into the property saying that a pipe had burst in the area. |

Jobs boost for Brownhills |

More than a dozen new jobs have been created at five new shops in Brownhills town centre.
New shops have opened in and around the town High Street.
Delighted Walsall Council staff who work with small traders have welcomed the trend. |

WEST MIDLANDS POLICE FINAL DUDLEY PROTEST STATEMENT |

WEST Midlands Police believe that today's policing operation in Dudley was successful.
Officers arrested nine people throughout the day as both the EDL and UAF aired their views at separate events in the town, five for possessing offensive weapons, two for public order offences and two for criminal damage.
Officers are also investigating alleged thefts from shops and reports of criminal damage.
Police estimate around 2,000 EDL supporters attended today's protest.
Meanwhile around 1,500 from the UAF attended the multi-faith celebration being held around a mile away. |
