Community leaders in Dudley will show off their 2020 vision when they unveil plans for the borough over the next 10 years.
Creating employment, tackling obesity and substance misuse, preserving the borough’s heritage and reducing crime are all set to be outlined as key priorities in the vision.
Dudley Community Partnership, made up of the council and key public, private and voluntary sector partners, will launch its new, revised Community Strategy at Dudley Concert Hall tomorrow (Tuesday March 23).
The strategy, which runs under the heading ‘my borough – our borough’, is revisited every three years, and outlines the borough’s priorities. It outlines aspirations for improvements under six themes. |

METAL PLATES TAKEN IN STOURBRIDGE THEFT |

HISTORIC METAL PLAQUES worth hundreds of pounds have been stolen in thefts in Stourbridge.
Police at this stage are not linking the incidents but are keen to hear from people who may have information about the whereabouts of the stolen items.
Local officers were initially called after staff from a nearby business noticed the historic cast iron plaques from the Stourbridge Canal towpath had been taken overnight from Thursday 4 to Friday 5 March. |

Strategy update for older people and physical disabilities |

A strategic document that outlines services to support a rapid increase in the number of older people in our community will go before councillors on Wednesday (17 March).
Dudley’s Cabinet will be asked to comment on a recent review of the Council’s strategy for older people, Ageing Well. The review takes into account a number of recent reports and inspections as well as the views of older people and carers living in the Dudley borough.
The strategy also looks at the existing and projected cuts on public spending which will place added pressure on future health and social care costs. |

Health scrutiny panel recommends GP service remains at Mossley surgery |

Walsall Council’s health scrutiny panel has recommended keeping a GP surgery on the Mossley and Dudley Fields areas of Bloxwich instead of moving it to a health centre.
Members of the panel met last night (Monday 15 March) to discuss the future of GP services on the estate after two long serving doctors at the Abbey Square Surgery confirmed that they will retire next month. |
