The headteacher and staff at a Dudley special school have been selected to help raise standards in other schools.
The headteacher of the Sutton School, Dave Bishop-Rowe, is one of only 51 headteachers nationally to be appointed to the role of National Leader of Education (NLE) – a growing group of headteachers identified by the National College. |

A major road is helping to drive Walsall out of recession with £800 million of new investment predicted, Walsall Council bosses reveal.
New jobs are also projected in the coming years with 4,000 posts anticipated thanks to team work from the authority and partners.
The strong message on Walsall’s future comes as a plaque is put onto the Littleton Street railway bridge to commemorate work on the Ringroad and workers involved with the scheme are publicly thanked. |

 The phased opening of the £170 million new Walsall Manor Hospital has begun with the first patients being admitted today (24 May) at the hospital’s Family Health and Diagnostics Centre.
The Centre is the first of three state-of-the-art new buildings that will see the completion of the hospital redevelopment this summer. |

Performance under scrutiny as the Police Authority meets in Walsall |

At its meeting this Thursday, West Midlands Police Authority will be asking the Force why, despite falling crime rates, it has not met key detection targets and what it intends to do to improve the situation. The meeting will be the Authority’s first opportunity to consider performance from the whole of 2009-10, and while there has been excellent progress in reducing crime and increasing the public’s confidence in policing, detection targets for more serious crimes were missed last year. |
