Borough businesses are urged to hit Dudley Council's Digi TV site to avoid missing out on a shot at Olympic glory.

More than £5 billion worth of contracts for the London 2012 Olympic Games are still up for grabs and people can find out more on the council's free to use site accessed through their TV screens.

The Digi TV service allows borough residents with digital television packages (Sky or Virgin Media) or with Nintendo Wii games consoles or internet enabled mobile phones to access council services and information 24 hours a day.

Details of the www.CompeteFor.com website, which allows businesses to bid for Olympic contracts, can be found on the Digi TV site. Council bosses are encouraging all local firms to sign up to the website to ensure they don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Councillor Les Jones, cabinet member for regeneration, said:
“Scores of businesses from across the Midlands are benefitting from the Olympics and we want to ensure any Dudley business with a chance of winning a contract is fully aware of the opportunities out there.

“Smaller contracts from around £5,000 are available as well as multi-million pound contracts and we want to ensure borough companies get their fair slice of these opportunities.”

As well as accessing the latest news and information, residents can also use the Digi TV site to report issues such as litter and pot holes, missed bin collections and street light problems.

Sky and Virgin subscribers can access the site by pressing the interactive button on their remotes. For Sky follow DirectGov to local services and for Virgin press News&Info followed by Looking Local. Nintendo Wii, PC and mobile phone browse to: http://lookinglocal.gov.uk/dudleycouncil
