Residents who live in borough extra care and supported housing schemes and receive social care support are being invited to a series of meetings to outline a simpler, fairer charging policy.
Walsall Council has written to all those residents affected to seek their views - while reassuring them the proposals will not affect their right to stay in their homes.
Benefits-based charging, which asks people to make a contribution towards their care costs from the specific disability-related benefits they receive, has been introduced for community-based services like day care and home care.
Social care chiefs are now consulting on whether the policy should be extended to cover those in extra care and supported housing schemes. This consultation will inform decision-making about any future policy.
Paul Davies, Walsall Council Executive Director (Social Care & Inclusion) will lead a series of meetings over the next few weeks to outline the changes and what they will mean to residents as well as answer any questions they may have.
People can attend any meeting they choose.
