Club Mark status for local cycling club

The Mayor of Dudley swapped her civic chains for bicycle chains at a special presentation evening.

Councillor Pat Martin, the borough’s first citizen, was guest of honour at an evening held by Stourbridge cycling club, where the group were presented with the Club Mark certificate.

The mayor was joined by dignitaries from British Cycling, Dudley Sports Development and Dudley Council at Oakfield Centre, Brierley Hill.

Club Mark status is a nationally recognised award from British Cycling and Sport England, which is an acknowledgement that the Stourbridge club is a well run premier cycling club.

The evening incorporated the club’s first ‘Go-Ride’ session of cycling skills for young riders this year, cycle Roller Riding demonstrations where the cyclist remains static on a moving surface, a photographic display of the club’s activities and examples of their collection of interesting cycles.

Councillor Pat Martin, Mayor of Dudley, said:

“Well done to Stourbridge Cycling Club for attaining this status, which I am sure demonstrates their hard work and commitment.
“It is encouraging to know that our community centres are being utilised by successful, well established clubs, such as this.”
