Social media to give thousands access to Police Authority meeting

POLICE will be blogging, tweeting and filming to give more people access to a special meeting of the West Midlands Police Authority on Thursday.

 

 

                West Midlands Police Authority will be holding the public meeting at the Midlands Arts Centre, Canon Hill Park, Birmingham between 9am and 12 midday on Thursday 8 September

Police in Sandwell have released an image of a man that they would like to trace in connection with a theft from Asda in Oldbury.

Police in Sandwell have released an image of a man that they would like to trace in connection with a theft from Asda in Oldbury.

 

On the afternoon of Thursday 12 May a man walked into the store and picked up a pizza and a crate of beer before leaving, without offering any payment.

 

Police are hoping that the image will prompt someone to come forward who recognises the offender.

 

Police constable Chris Franklin, from Warley Police Station, said: “I'd ask anybody who recognises the man to get ion touch with police in Sandwell.

 

“The offender was in and out of the store in minutes, and was very casual in his execution of the offence.

 

“We want to hear from anyone who can help us to identify him.”

Wanted for fraud: Richard Ardolino

WEST MIDLANDS POLICE are releasing an image of a man wanted in connection with an ongoing fraud enquiry.

 Richard ArdolinoRichard Ardolino, who is 36 and originally from the Leeds area, has been linked to 14 offences of mortgage fraud and money laundering.

He is described as around 6ft tall, with short brown receding hair and of proportionate build.

His last known address was in Normanton, West Yorkshire.

DC Greg Evans, from West Midlands Regional Asset Recovery Team, said: “Ardolino has many associates and relatives in Leeds and is well known in and around the area.

“We also believe he has connections in the Midlands, Manchester, Cyprus and the Middle East.

“It is thought he travelled outside the United Kingdom in February 2011.”

MAN CHARGED WITH DRUGS AND FIREARMS OFFENCES AFTER OLDBURY SEARCH

A MAN is appearing in court today, accused of drugs and firearms offences, after a handgun and drugs were found during a search of an Oldbury flat.

Police were called to Lowrey Court on Monday 23 May after cannabis plants were found inside one of the premises. A further search located a handgun and ammunition.

A 36-year-old man was arrested from the premises and was later charged with:

  • Possession of cannabis
  • Possession of a firearm
  • Possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate
  • Possession of expanding ammunition - military equipment
  • Possession of a firearm when prohibited for life
  • Possession of ammunition for a firearm when prohibited for life x2
  • Producing cannabis
  • Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

 

He will appear before Warley Magistrates Court today (25 May).
