New superintendent for Wolverhampton

Superintendent Mark PayneWOLVERHAMPTON Police today (Monday) welcome a new superintendent to the area.

Superintendent Mark Payne returns to Wolverhampton after having previously worked in the city as a sergeant and inspector in uniform and CID roles.

He replaces Superintendent Piers Westlake, who has taken a post at police headquarters in Birmingham.

Supt. Payne has transferred from force CID at Bloxwich police station where he led investigations into serious crime for Wolverhampton. He has spent most of his career in frontline policing roles and also enjoyed a spell in charge of the force’s Media and Communications department.

He said: "Wolverhampton is a really successful policing area and we have enjoyed some great results this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how we can make things even better.

"I am excited to return to the city and with my experience and background I am confident that I can really make a difference in all areas of concern, from anti-social behaviour to the reduction of crime. We are very keen to further develop our contact with local people.”
