Man jailed for conspiracy to supply drugs between Wolverhampton and Aberdeen

A MAN has been jailed for 11 years for his part in a multi-million pound drug dealing network.

Gary Nelson, 39 and from Brownhills (formerly Wolverhampton) appeared at Birmingham Crown Court earlier.

He admitted Conspiracy to Supply Class A Drugs after being arrested as part of Operation Sorcerer, a long running investigation into the supply of illegal substances in Scotland.

The sentencing comes just 11 days after six other people were jailed for a total of 28 for the same charge after being arrested as part of this operation.

Officers believe between two and three kilograms of Class A drugs were being transported from Wolverhampton to Scotland every week when the gang was operating at its peak.

Detective Inspector Martin Brennan, from Force CID at West Midlands Police, said: "This is the latest in a string of sentences handed out following a lengthy and ongoing operation.

"We have disrupted what at one stage was an organised group of individuals who had a very slick operation to distribute drugs in Aberdeen.

"A clear message has come from court today that all drugs offences of this nature will be investigated thoroughly and the punishment can be very severe for offenders."

The investigation is ongoing following today's result, as officers continue to work with other forces and agencies as part of Operation Viper, to identify offenders involved in the gang.

Detectives are also looking to seize the assets of those already convicted as part of the operation under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA).
