Margot James, MP for Stourbridge, has nominated local manufacturers Bird Stevens and The Boro Foundry for the Parliamentary ‘Made by Britain’ awards.
Margot said, “These awards recognise outstanding manufacturers and products. I am delighted to nominate Bird Stevens and Boro Foundry, two innovative and respected local businesses; together they draw attention to the high quality manufacturing which takes place in Stourbridge. I am very pleased that a large number of companies from the Black Country have been nominated, a powerful reflection of our manufacturing heritage and its future prospects.”
Bev Edwards, Director of Boro Foundry said, “It’s important that British Manufacturing and our skilled people are recognised as a critical part of the country’s economic recovery.”
Steve Ruston, Managing Director of Bird Stevens said, “We at Bird Stevens are delighted to be nominated in the Made in Britain Promotion. We are now approaching our 100th anniversary of manufacturing metalwork items in the heart of the Black Country and are proud of the fact that, despite the difficulties companies like ours have endured over the years, we are still growing our business by providing competitive solutions to our customers through a combination of traditional skills and modern manufacturing methods.”
‘Made by Britain’ was launched in July by the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills to celebrate leadership in British manufacturing. ‘Made by Britain’ is a collaboration between the Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, and the 1851 Royal Commission.
The Boro Foundry is a family run business which has been established in the local area for over sixty years, for more information please see http://www.borofoundry.co.uk/
