MP nominates local manufacturers for Made by Britain

Margot James, MP for Stourbridge, has nominated local manufacturers Bird Stevens and The Boro Foundry for the Parliamentary ‘Made by Britain’ awards.

Margot said, “These awards recognise outstanding manufacturers and products. I am delighted to nominate Bird Stevens and Boro Foundry, two innovative and respected local businesses; together they draw attention to the high quality manufacturing which takes place in Stourbridge. I am very pleased that a large number of companies from the Black Country have been nominated, a powerful reflection of  our  manufacturing heritage and its future prospects.”

Bev Edwards, Director of Boro Foundry said, “It’s important that British Manufacturing and our skilled people are recognised as a critical part of the country’s economic recovery.”

This is one of six new 6'9" diameter wheels that have been cast for 'The Unknown Warrior' - the new Royal British Legion Endorsed National Memorial steam engineSteve Ruston, Managing Director of Bird Stevens said, “We at Bird Stevens are delighted to be nominated in the Made in Britain Promotion. ‘Made by Britain’ was launched in July by the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills to celebrate leadership in British manufacturing. ‘Made by Britain’ is a collaboration between the Parliamentary Manufacturing Group, and the 1851 Royal Commission.
