Investigation launched after death of woman in Wolverhampton

POLICE have launched an investigation following the death of a woman at a house in Wolverhampton this morning.
A man was also found unconscious at the scene.
Police were called to the address, on Newhampton Road West, at 7.47am today, Thursday 29 December, following a report of disorder at the premises.
Both the man and woman were found collapsed inside the address, having sustained stab injuries.
Officers began to provide medical assistance at the scene until ambulance staff arrived a short time later.
Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the 36-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man, aged in his 30s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
A police cordon is in place at the scene as officers make inquiries.
Detective Inspector Gordon Roberts, from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, said: "A major investigation has been launched into the circumstances of the woman's death and how the man came to sustain his injuries.
"Following initial inquiries we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident at this time.
"A young woman has tragically lost her life and specialist liaison officers are supporting her family at this difficult time.
"We urge anyone who has information that may be of interest to the investigation team to come forward and speak to us at their earliest opportunity."
