Dudley Zoo keeper, Lesley Lewis, has transferred her giant African land snails to a warmer climate for winter – the boiler room beneath the zoo offices!
Lesley owns four of the mega molluscs, the largest, named Corris, is about the size of a human hand.
Lesley said: “When the weather gets colder, the snails need more warmth in order to stay active.
“They are now situated on top of the boiler in the basement, where they are happily eating lettuce and cucumber in their tank.”
