Have a JAM packed Whit week

Youngsters can enjoy a range of royal themed activities with the Juniors at Museums (JAM) club this Whitsun holiday to coincide with the queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

All three Dudley Council-run sites, Broadfield House Glass Museum, Dudley Museum and Art Gallery and the Red House Glass Cone are running a free Jubilee trail from 2 – 10 June during normal museum opening hours (Broadfield and Dudley Museum and Art Gallery will be closed on 4 and 5 June).  Children can follow the clues and search out pictures of members of the royal family hidden around the venues.

Don’t forget your bucket and spade at Himley’s under-5s day

Young children, toddlers, babies and their parents are reminded not to forget their bucket and spade at this year’s Himley Under-5s Fun Day.

The ever-popular annual event will be held at HimleyPark on Friday June 29 and promises to be a day filled with fun and entertainment for the whole family.

Spring bargains bloom at Age Concern

Local people are invited to a grand spring fair to help raise money for Age Concern Stourbridge & Halesowen.

The event, being held on Saturday 28 April from 10.30am at Age Concern, The Elton Centre at St John’s, St John’s Road, Stourbridge, DY8 1EJ is to help raise awareness of the services available at this centre, while raising money to support their activities.

Old pupils to go back to school for anniversary - Sutton School 50th anniversary

Sutton special school is inviting former pupils to join them in celebrating their golden anniversary in May.
The Sutton School and Specialist College will be celebrating its 50th birthday on Friday 18 May with a 60s themed day and would like to invite former pupils and staff to join in with the celebrations.

The school, which was originally located in Wolverhampton Street, Dudley, opened at the Scotts Green Close site on 18 May 1962 and to celebrate the anniversary staff and students will be wearing 60s clothing and dressing as famous people from the decade.

March events at nature reserves

Two spring walks are on offer this March at Dudley Council’s nature reserves.

On Wednesday March 21 a six mile walk will start at Fens Pools, pass through Buckpool and join the Stourbridge canal. It will cross over the River Stour and there will be a small detour following a path across open countryside and through woodland, returning back to Fens Pools.

The walk, which includes slopes and steps, starts at 10am and finishes at approximately 1.30pm. Booking is essential by calling 01384 812780 and the meeting point for this walk is at the wardens’ office, Dell Stadium, junction of Bryce Road.
