Walsall workshop putting flesh on the bones of family history

A workshop is being held at Walsall Local History Centre for residents to discover more about their family and where they lived.

The workshop at Walsall Local History Centre, Essex Street, shows people how to find out about the places where their ancestors lived, the jobs which they did and how they spent their leisure time.

Councillor Anthony Harris, cabinet member for leisure at Walsall Council, said: “Once family historians have some names and dates for their ancestors they start wondering what their lives were like.  This workshop will look at how to build up a picture of the communities in which they lived, worked and played.

"Using original records it will look at what their homes were like and the different job opportunities available to them among other things.”

The workshop is on Saturday, 28 January 2012 from 10am to 1pm and repeated on Friday 3 February from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. at Walsall Local History Centre.  The cost is £3.  Booking is essential on 01922 721305.
