Share your Royal memories with Walsall Museum

Walsall Royal fans are being invited to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year with Walsall Museum - which will be marking the monarch's 60th year with two special displays.

From Tuesday 6 March until Saturday 14 April, the museum will be displaying Jubilee and Royal memorabilia and photographs on loan from local people.

From 15 May to 30 June, visitors will be able to see a selection of historic artefacts from the museum’s collection to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s visit to the Crabtree Factory on 24 May 1962.

This collection includes the visitor’s book signed by Her Majesty.

And residents can play their own part in these displays by loaning any items or keepsakes from previous Royal occasions and Jubilees to go on show in the museum.

Jennifer Thomson, Walsall Museum community history curator, said: "The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is a special time for us all and we'll be celebrating it well in Walsall.

"We’d love to hear from people who have Royal memories.

"Maybe you’ve met a member of the Royal Family or took part in previous Jubilee celebrations?  Whether its photographs, Jubilee mugs and plates or Jubilee flags we’d be delighted to display them along with your story about them.

"Any items that people wish to loan to us will be very gratefully appreciated so please check out your lofts and cupboards to find those all-important pieces."
