Following the success of Walsall Museum’s Relic Trail for children and families over the Summer the Museum is now making it available for family groups to enjoy until the end of December 2010.
Children taking part in Relic Trail must find objects and complete challenges in The Changing Face of Walsall, Walsall Museum’s local history gallery, in order to become guardians of the Museum!
The Relic Trail is part of A History of the World, a unique public service partnership between the BBC, The British Museum, and museums across the country, which includes the BBC Radio 4 Series A History of the World in 100 Objects, the popular CBBC programme Relic, and events and activities in many British museums.
The Relic Trail is free to do, requires no advance booking, and is available during Walsall Museum’s normal opening hours. For further information and please contact Walsall Museum on 01922 653116 or email

Local primary schools are also being given the chance to get involved too, with the BBC’s Relic Challenge for schools. T
his gives schools the opportunity to teach history through actual objects in the classroom using the BBC’s suite of KS2 curriculum based lesson plans and to add their own objects onto the BBC’s A History of the World website.
Schools can access further information at http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/learning/schools/, and can find out how Walsall Museum can help them by visiting http://www.walsall.gov.uk/relic_challenge_for_schools.htm.
