A takeaway food premises in Bloxwich has been closed down by Walsall Council environmental health officers due to extensive mouse infestation.
Bloxwich Fusion at 107A High Street, Bloxwich, Walsall was shut down on Wednesday evening after officers served a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice on the owners over fears that the mouse-ridden takeaway posed a serious risk to the public’s health.
Mouse droppings were found in food preparation and storage areas.
Evidence gathered from the premises was presented to Magistrates on Monday (yesterday) who confirmed that the closure notice had been correctly served.

Pensioner died hours after care home attack

An elderly woman collapsed at a care home in the Black Country less than two hours after she was hit over the head by another resident with a walking stick, an inquest heard.
Dementia sufferer Violet Hughes, known to friends and family as Marjorie, later died at New Cross Hospital after the assault at Waterside House, in Wood End, Wolverhampton.
Mrs Hughes, aged 77, had previously been attacked several times by the unnamed woman and care assistants at the home had been told by senior managers to always keep the pair apart, the inquest held at Smethwick Council House was told.
Two men charged with theft from vehicles in Wolverhampton

Two men, aged 20 and 24 from Ettingshall and Bilston respectively, have been charged with three theft from vehicles and are due to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court today (Friday).
The alleged thefts occurred on 7 March in Bow Street and Dover Street in Wolverhampton and King Charles Avenue in Bentley.
Man charged with murder of Jonas Daraska

A 32-year-old man was charged with murder last night following the death of Jonas Daraska, aged 40, from the All Saints area of Wolverhampton.
He will appear at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court this morning (Thursday 29 March).
Police attended the derelict property on Hospital Street at around 7:35am on Monday after receiving information which suggested that a man had been assaulted there.
Two men charged with robberies

Detectives investigating an alleged series of robberies near to student accommodation in Wolverhampton have arrested and charged two men.
A 28-year-old man from Bilston was arrested and charged in connection with a robbery on two people on 4 March in Church Street, Bilston. He appeared at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court yesterday (Thursday) and was remanded in custody to appear at a future date.
A 22-year-old Bilston man was also arrested in connection with the alleged offence in Bilston and also an offence in Lock Street. He was charged with three robberies and also appeared at Magistrates yesterday.
