Pendeford pensioner killed after being struck by Astra

POLICE are investigating following a fatal road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Emsworth Crescent, Pendeford yesterday (Tuesday).
Emergency services were called at 5:17pm.
A man, aged 85 and from Pendeford, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Blaydon Road was closed between Oxley Moor Road and Whitburn Close for several hours to allow specialist officers to conduct an examination of the scene.
The 27-year-old female driver of the silver Vauxhall Astra which struck the man has been spoken to but has not been arrested.
The force have appointed family liaison officers to support the mans next of kin during this difficult time and our thoughts remain with them.
The man is not being named at this time.
Anyone who saw the incident but has not yet spoken to police should call officers from the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
